ATDiN is guided by informed and society-oriented ethical principles and values. Tourism is a competitive business and its practitioners often seek to draw investors and appeal to tourists to utilize their products, which are essentially hospitality and attractions while away from home. While the investors want good returns on investment, the visitors want to have memorable and insightful experiences. Given the above, we at ATDiN have articulated basic ethical principles and values that guide our operations.

- Demonstrate integrity in the conduct of work,

- Engender trust and cooperation by showing respect and being courteous at all times.
- Create a database of organizations, foundations, corporations, associations and individuals and write personalized letters and request for support of the objectives,
- Carry out personalized solicitations through personalized email campaigns, direct mails, telephone calls etc to marketing our cause,
- Advocate to Nigerian government for tax incentives to individuals and organizatios making donations for charitable causes,
- Subscribe and use cloud-based funding software platforms that help build donor profiles,
- Develop a portal with easy access and support/Donate buttons where individuals and or organizations could give as a one way giving or recurrent monthly giving,
- Recognize and send appreciation letters for every gift received; organize special events such as breakfast/dinner/colloquium/public lecture in honour of the individual /organization, and
- Design commemoratives plagues or create tourism hall of fame with pictures of individuals and organizations that make donations of NGR.500, 000 and above.
General Standards of Ethical Conduct
- Personal integrity is considered to be the most important contribution an individual may bring to ATDiN. ATDiN expects all members to adhere to the highest standards of ethical conduct in their professional and private affairs.
- General standards of conduct include avoiding any action that might result in or create the appearance of dishonesty.
- Any fund, grant or donation made exclusively for public good or educational purposes as may be promoted by the association shall not be converted to personal use by a Director, volunteer or employer except as may be approved in payment for services rendered.
- Based on legal and ethical principles, those engaged by the association for the purpose of fundraising for the organization shall not accept personal gifts from donors, and their salaries or commissions should be as agreed and documented in the letter of engagement.
- Board members also should not have a competitive advantage in doing business with the organization or use the organization’s name, image or logo for private solicitations.
- Trust must serve as the distinguishing factor for members of the association and tourism professionals.
- Ethical conflicts if they arise shall be reconciled through sets of values, beliefs, and commitments against which we can judge our actions.
Outside Consulting and Conflict of Interest
ATDiN encourages appropriate participation in cooperation with other organizations involved in similar endeavors for the public good. It however, expects that such activities will normally be conducted with professionalism and integrity. Unless an exception is otherwise specifically approved in writing, it is incompatible with ATDiN’s policy for a member to accept personal consultation fees or honoraria in areas of ATDiN interest.
Directors’ fees, honoraria for speeches, radio and television appearances, authors’ royalties and payments for published articles or article reviews undertaken on behalf or at the instance of the association shall be transparently accounted for.
